Tax Info Will Be Online January 21st

Don't Wait For The Mailman To Deliver Your Tax Forms

2008 tax documents will hit mailboxes around February 2, but starting January 21, you can sign in to Account Access to get your tax information online.

Please note:
Not all borrowers will receive documents in the mail due to our tax policy change.

What's Changing?

In previous years, AES mailed paper 1098-E Student Loan Interest statements and 1099-C Cancellation of Debt forms if you paid $5.00 or more in interest on your student loan or had $5.00 or more in student loan debt cancelled.

This year, in an effort to be more environmentally responsible, AES will only mail paper tax forms if you paid $600 or more in interest or had $600.00 or more of debt cancelled. Otherwise, your 2008 tax information will only be available online.

Not sure how much your interest or cancelled debt was in 2008? You can view your totals online by signing in to your account on or after January 21, 2009.

How Will This Affect Me?

Not all borrowers will receive 1098-E and 1099-C tax forms in the mail due to our recent tax policy change.

But don't worry if you don't get a tax form from AES in the mail. We know you still need this information for filing your 2008 income taxes. That's why it will be available online starting January 21.

Remember – your tax forms will be:

  • Online only starting January 21 – if you paid $599.99 or less in student loan interest or had $599.99 or less in debt cancelled, on loans serviced by AES in 2008.
  • In the mail by January 31 – if you paid $600.00 or more in student loan interest or had $600.00 or more in debt cancelled, on loans serviced by AES in 2008.
